A Jaguar in Rio Tips Brazil to Sink Scotland in Miami
A wildlife park in Rio de Janeiro has turned to an unlikely oracle, a resident jaguar, to predict the outcome of Brazil versus Scotland at the World Cup.
With Brazil and Scotland set to meet in Miami on Wednesday, a wildlife park in Rio de Janeiro has offered its own very unofficial match preview. According to Reuters, a jaguar at the park made its prediction on Monday, choosing Brazil to beat Scotland in their Group C fixture.
The light-hearted ritual is a nod to a long tradition of animal oracles at major football tournaments, and this one comes with some samba swagger given that the jaguar is the national symbol of Brazil.
Meanwhile Reuters also shows that Miami's Little Havana neighbourhood has been transformed, with Scottish fans filling the streets and bars before the game, creating what locals are calling "Little Scotland" ahead of kick-off.
Brazil head into the match as heavy favourites, but Scotland's supporters are clearly not short of confidence or colour. The match kicks off at 22:00 UTC on Wednesday.
