Algeria Turn It Around to Eliminate Debutants Jordan
Algeria came from behind to beat Jordan 2-1 in California, keeping their knockout stage hopes alive and ending the debutants' World Cup journey.
Debutants Jordan have been eliminated from the 2026 World Cup after Algeria produced a determined second-half comeback to win 2-1 in California, according to Sky Sports. The defeat, Jordan's second in a row, ended their tournament with a game still to play.
Algeria's turnaround was built on set-piece quality. According to Sky Sports, Nadhir Benbouali and Amine Gouiri both scored from corners to seal the win and hand the Fennecs their first victory of the tournament.
The result also confirmed Argentina as Group J winners. The defending champions will face the runners-up of Group H, currently Uruguay, in the round of 32 on 3 July.
For Jordan it is a bittersweet farewell from their first ever World Cup, while Algeria will head into their final group game with genuine belief they can progress.
