Bellingham and Kane Fire England to Group L Top Spot
Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane led England to a 2-0 win over Panama, securing first place in Group L at the FIFA World Cup 2026.
England topped Group L after a 2-0 victory over Panama at the New York New Jersey Stadium, with Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane the key figures, according to Reuters.
Bellingham opened the scoring, celebrating with teammates Morgan Rogers and Nico O'Reilly, as England controlled much of the contest. The win confirms top spot, setting up a round of 32 encounter ahead.
However, Reuters notes that England were not entirely convincing. Marcus Rashford held the ball too long at times and Bukayo Saka found himself isolated on the right, quickly surrounded whenever he tried to drive forward. Rashford also headed wide from close range.
The result means England progress as group winners, though questions remain about their depth and consistency heading into the knockout rounds.
