Bellingham Brilliance But Tuchel Stays Coy on the No 10 Shirt
Jude Bellingham dazzled against Croatia yet England boss Thomas Tuchel's lukewarm review is keeping the debate over the No 10 role very much alive.
Pundits were falling over themselves to praise Jude Bellingham after his display against Croatia, but according to Sky Sports, England boss Thomas Tuchel was notably measured in his post-match assessment, and that cautious tone has kept the conversation about the No 10 position firmly open ahead of the Ghana game.
Former England captain Rio Ferdinand said Bellingham is the only player alongside Harry Kane whose presence grows at the biggest moments, while Toni Kroos described him as potentially the most complete player in his position. Yet it is Tuchel's view that matters most, and Sky Sports reports his response was mixed rather than effusive.
Tuchel's most revealing comment was actually about Morgan Rogers, whose Aston Villa form earned him a late World Cup call-up. The England boss admitted the toughest decision was leaving Rogers out of the starting eleven, not putting Bellingham in. That hint of tension at the top of the pitch makes the Ghana fixture all the more compelling to watch.
