Clarke Concedes Scotland Are Heading Home After Brazil Thrashing

Scotland head coach Steve Clarke gave a frank and painful assessment after his side were beaten 3-0 by Brazil, according to Reuters. Clarke described it as a "fair result" and said the chances his team handed to Brazil were always going to be punished at this level.

Clarke was candid about where the blame lay, saying Scotland effectively gave away the first two goals and probably the third as well. He acknowledged that goalkeeper Angus Gunn had to make several good saves to keep the score from being even worse.

Despite seeing a sliver of hope in a few chances Scotland created, Clarke was clear-eyed about the team's situation. With twenty group matches still to be played across the tournament, he said he believed Scotland would be overtaken in the third-place standings and would be going home.
