He stated clearly that nobody can claim FIFA refereeing is influenced by anyone, including, as he pointedly noted, FIFA president Gianni Infantino.

Collina also warned that baseless accusations carry real-world consequences, saying such claims risk provoking threats against referees and their families. His remarks come after Egypt exited the tournament having squandered a two-goal lead, with Argentina eventually snatching a stoppage-time winner through Enzo Fernandez to complete a 3-2 victory.

The Egyptian camp was vocal in its complaints after the final whistle. FIFA, however, has drawn a line under the matter and made clear that constructive debate is welcome but unfounded allegations have no place in the sport.
