For the first time since Italia 1990, every World Cup semi-finalist is a former world champion, as Argentina, France, Spain and England converge on the final four.
According to beIN Sports, the 2026 FIFA World Cup has produced a semifinal lineup that football has not seen in 36 years. Argentina, France, Spain and England have all secured their places in the last four, making this only the third occasion in World Cup history that every remaining team has previously lifted the trophy.
The previous two instances were Mexico 1970 and Italia 1990. This time, defending champions Argentina are chasing a fourth title, while England are seeking only their second, having waited since their famous victory in 1966.
France and Spain, two of the tournament's most structured and deep squads, stand in their way. With the Atlanta and Dallas semi-finals now confirmed, the stage is set for a genuinely historic conclusion to this expanded, record-breaking tournament.
