Gary Neville: Kane Is England's Only World Class Player
Former England captain Gary Neville has declared that Harry Kane is the sole genuinely world-class player in the current England squad heading into World Cup 2026.
Gary Neville has made a bold assessment of England's World Cup squad, telling Sky Sports that the team is built entirely around Harry Kane and that Kane is the only player in the group he would describe as genuinely world class. Neville pointed to what he called the best season of Kane's career, during which the striker scored 61 goals in 51 appearances for Bayern Munich.
The comment is likely to spark debate among England supporters, with several other players in the squad considered among the better performers in their respective leagues. But Neville appears to see a significant gap between Kane and the rest when it comes to the very highest level.
England face Croatia in Group L in Dallas on Wednesday, making Kane's form and fitness arguably the single biggest factor in how far the team can go in this tournament.
