England's 4-2 win over Croatia was as entertaining as it looked, and The Guardian's data team has crunched the numbers to show exactly why.

According to The Guardian, England generated seven big chances, more than any other side in the opening 24 matches of the tournament. Four of those came from dead-ball situations, with Tuchel's team actually creating more from set pieces than from open play. Harry Kane's brace moved him closer to the top ten all-time World Cup scorers, and Jude Bellingham added his name to the scoresheet too in what Sky Sports described as an electric second half.

But the same Sky Sports report noted that while the attacking highlights reel will delight England fans, the defensive frailties will give Tuchel genuine cause for concern heading into their next Group L fixture against Ghana.
