Colombia's Bayern Munich winger announced himself on the World Cup stage with a goal and an assist in a comfortable win over Uzbekistan.
Luis Diaz had arrived at the 2026 World Cup with relatively little fanfare, but according to Sky Sports he wasted no time making his mark, delivering a goal and an assist as Colombia beat Uzbekistan 3-1.
The Bayern Munich forward has been in sensational club form, racking up 49 goal involvements in 51 appearances across all competitions. At this World Cup, Sky Sports notes, he has shown he has no intention of letting Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi, Erling Haaland or Harry Kane monopolise the headlines.
With Colombia looking like genuine contenders in Group K, Diaz could be one of the tournament's defining figures if he keeps producing at this level.
