Mbappe Hits 100 Caps and Matches Klose in One Night

Kylian Mbappe celebrated his 100th cap for France in the most dramatic of circumstances, according to Reuters, netting twice in a 3-0 win over Iraq that was interrupted by a lengthy weather stoppage of almost two hours.

The two goals came nearly three hours apart in real time as the storm forced players off the pitch, but Mbappe kept his composure once play resumed. Ousmane Dembele also scored and set up Mbappe's second goal after the restart.

The win sent France through to the knockout rounds from Group I alongside Norway. Iraq, meanwhile, face a very difficult path to the last 32 and will likely need to beat Senegal and receive outside help.

Mbappe now sits on 16 all-time World Cup goals, matching the mark previously held by Germany legend Miroslav Klose. France manager Didier Deschamps praised the team's ability to refocus after the unusual interruption, joking that his squad had passed the time playing cards.
