Mexico Make History as Goalkeeper Howler Seals Group A Win
A goalkeeping error from South Korea's Seung-Gyu Kim gifted Mexico the only goal in Guadalajara, making them the first nation through to the World Cup round of 32.
Mexico have become the first team to book their place in the World Cup last 32, and they have South Korea goalkeeper Seung-Gyu Kim to thank for it, according to Sky Sports.
In a tight Group A affair in Guadalajara, Kim spilled a Raul Jimenez header directly into the path of Luis Romo, who coolly lifted the ball over the stranded goalkeeper to settle the contest. It was a moment that defined an otherwise low-key encounter.
At the other end, Mexico keeper Raul Rangel made a fine double save late on to deny substitute Gue-Sung Cho and seal the three points. South Korea now face a difficult path to the knockout stage after suffering this damaging early defeat.
