Morocco Lose Two Starters to Injury Before World Cup Begins
Morocco were forced into squad changes before their tournament opener after Nayef Aguerd and Abde Ezzalzouli were ruled out with injuries.
Morocco suffered a significant blow in the lead-up to the World Cup, with Reuters reporting that two members of their starting squad were ruled out through injury before a ball had even been kicked.
Defender Nayef Aguerd and forward Abde Ezzalzouli were both replaced in the Moroccan squad, with Saudi-based defender Marwane Saadane and striker Amine Sbai called up as their replacements, confirmed by the Moroccan federation and FIFA.
The Atlas Lions, one of Africa's most highly regarded sides, will be hoping the changes do not disrupt their preparations as they aim to build on their remarkable run to the semi-finals at the last World Cup.
