Thomas Tuchel faces a defensive headache ahead of England's crucial final group game against Panama, according to Sky Sports, with right-back Reece James ruled out of the squad's journey to New Jersey after picking up a hamstring injury in Tuesday's goalless draw with Ghana.
The Chelsea captain came into the tournament fully fit but the two opening games marked his first back-to-back appearances since March, and his body has paid the price. Sky Sports reports that James is now thought to be at serious risk of missing the remainder of the tournament.
Tuchel must now choose from Djed Spence, Ezri Konsa, Jarell Quansah and Trevoh Chalobah to fill the right-back slot against Panama, a game England need to navigate safely to secure their place in the knockout rounds.
