Scotland's Tartan Army Leave Boston Thirsty for More
Scotland's devoted fans have brought their legendary enthusiasm and seemingly limitless capacity for celebration to the bars and streets of Boston at their first World Cup in nearly 30 years.
The Tartan Army descended on Boston for Scotland's opening World Cup match and, according to Reuters, the city's bars were pushed to their very limits trying to keep up with the demand. Bar staff described Scottish supporters as running on pure adrenaline all weekend, returning early the next morning ready to go again as if no time had passed.
One bar worker told Reuters that for Scots the excitement is comparable to an American football team reaching the Super Bowl for the very first time. Scotland have not featured at a World Cup in close to three decades, and the supporters have clearly arrived determined to make every moment count.
The Tartan Army marched in kilts and played bagpipes on the way to the famous Fenway Park area, turning Boston into a temporary corner of Scotland. Their next game is also set to take place at the vast stadium used by the New England Patriots in Foxborough.
