Spain's Final Prep Washed Out by New Jersey Thunderstorms
A dramatic thunderstorm forced Spain to abandon their last training session before Sunday's World Cup final.
Spain's final preparation before the World Cup final was brought to an abrupt halt by thunderstorms in New Jersey, according to Reuters. The Spanish football federation confirmed the session at the Melanie Lane Training Ground was suspended in line with US storm safety protocols.
It is a striking final twist in the build-up to Sunday's showpiece: the favourites unable to complete their last run-through before facing Argentina, left instead to prepare indoors or not at all.
Spain will still take the field at the New York-New Jersey Stadium as one of the most organised and technically gifted sides in the tournament, but the weather had other ideas for their final day of preparation.
