Tchouameni Ruled Out as France Face Paraguay Test
France go into their last-16 clash with Paraguay without key midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, who is out with a thigh injury sustained during the tournament.
France will be without Aurelien Tchouameni for Saturday's World Cup last-16 match against Paraguay in Philadelphia, according to Reuters, citing a report from French daily L'Equipe.
The 26-year-old had started three of France's four matches at the tournament before the thigh injury ended his involvement. Reuters reported that Manu Kone is expected to step in and fill the void in midfield.
The news adds a layer of uncertainty to France's hopes of progressing, with Paraguay waiting to test a reshuffled side. France will need their remaining players to step up if they are to keep their campaign alive in New York New Jersey on Sunday.
