Torres Off the Bench, Spain Are World Champions
Ferran Torres struck in extra time to give Spain a 1-0 win over Argentina and a second World Cup title.
Spain are world champions for the second time after substitute Ferran Torres fired home a rebound in the 106th minute to beat Argentina 1-0 after extra time in the 2026 World Cup final at MetLife Stadium, according to Sky Sports.
Spain dominated the match from start to finish. Torres scored with Spain's 20th shot of the game, while Argentina failed to register a single shot on target across the entire match. Lionel Messi touched the ball just 54 times over a contest that stretched to three hours.
Argentina were further undone when Enzo Fernandez was dismissed after a second booking in stoppage time, leaving the defending champions to see out extra time with ten men. Spain's captain Rodri lifted the trophy at the end of a commanding display that confirmed La Roja as the tournament's outstanding side.
