Trump Lands by Helicopter at the World Cup Final
The sitting US president became the first to attend a World Cup final on home soil, arriving by helicopter and watching from a luxury box alongside FIFA's Gianni Infantino.
Donald Trump made a striking entrance at the 2026 World Cup final in New Jersey, arriving via Marine One helicopter roughly 45 minutes before kickoff, according to The Guardian. The aircraft first flew over the stadium before landing nearby, though it drew little reaction from the crowd.
Trump was seated in a glassed-in luxury section on the west side of the stadium alongside FIFA president Gianni Infantino. The Guardian reports that other dignitaries present included Spain's King Felipe VI, Canadian prime minister Mark Carney and Mexican president Claudia Sheinbaum.
The occasion made Trump the first sitting US president to attend a World Cup final on American soil. When the United States hosted the tournament in 1994, then-president Bill Clinton did not attend the match.
