Thomas Tuchel has issued a clear defensive challenge to his England squad ahead of Tuesday's World Cup group game against Ghana in Boston, according to The Guardian. The England head coach described England's first match as a "wake-up call" and wants his back line to show marked improvement.

Despite the stern warning, Tuchel was warm about the squad's training attitude, telling The Guardian he could see no signs of complacency and that players not starting were pushing hard to earn their place. That internal competition, he said, is exactly why he loves this group.

Declan Rice returned to full training after carrying discomfort in the previous match, while Bukayo Saka has been working fully in recent sessions and Tuchel confirmed the winger is now pain-free. Saka is still expected to start on the bench. On the left wing, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Gordon are battling for the same spot.
