Tuchel Stays But Big Questions Follow England Home
Thomas Tuchel has pledged his future to England after their World Cup semi-final exit, but Sky Sports sets out the serious questions his reign must now answer.
Thomas Tuchel emerged from England's 2-1 semi-final defeat to Argentina declaring himself fully committed to staying on and leading the side at Euro 2028. According to Sky Sports, the German coach said from day one he wanted to add a second star to the England shirt, and that ambition remains undimmed despite the tournament ending at the final four.
But Sky Sports also lays out the harder questions. Tuchel's in-game decision-making drew criticism during the tournament, and Harry Kane's contribution came under scrutiny too. Kane was credited with dragging England through earlier rounds, including a vital performance against DR Congo, yet the drop-off in the later stages was visible, with altitude and the demands of a long tournament taking their toll.
For all the pain of this exit, England did reach a World Cup semi-final, a significant step. Whether Tuchel can find, as he puts it, the extra level needed to go further in 2028 is now the central question hanging over English football.
