World Mourns South Africa Midfielder Jayden Adams, 25
The South Africa World Cup squad has lost one of its own, with midfielder Jayden Adams dying at the age of 25 in Cape Town.
The football world is in shock after the death of South African midfielder Jayden Adams at just 25 years old, as reported by The Guardian. Adams had represented Bafana Bafana at this summer's World Cup, playing a part in what the South African football fraternity described as a campaign full of pride, courage and distinction.
Police in Cape Town opened an investigation after the body of a 25-year-old man was found at a house in the suburb of Schotsche Kloof on Saturday morning. Authorities have not confirmed a cause of death.
South Africa's sports minister paid tribute to Adams, describing his passing as an immeasurable loss to his family, his clubs, his teammates and the country. Adams had come through the youth academy at Stellenbosch FC, becoming the first graduate of that system to make the grade at the highest level.
